Trip to Utah - Grandma's Funeral

We started our trip at 6:20am from Kennewick and headed on the road going a huge 30 miles per hour because there had been a freezing rain storm the night before into that morning. So there were tons of accidents on the sides of the roads with people going too fast. We kept a slow pace, but like the phrase, "slow and steady" we made it to La Grande, Oregon at around 10:30 in the morning. Little did we know we were going to be stuck there for over six hours!
Here is Jennifer, Linzey, Landon, and Bubby at the resturant's table and corner we occupied while waiting those long hours. Then I took a shot of Jennifer and Nicolas... can you tell that Jennifer was thinking, "Can you just get that camera out of my face!" hahaha, you have to love family!

My brother-in-law, Thomas, made some claw type things out of the kids papers that they had on the tables in our area and then posed like a dork for some pictures. What we do to keep ourselves entertained during times of boredom... Then there's Samantha (my niece) and I. And Landon and I... he was so tired and bored!

Leah finally got him to sleep and layed down on the chairs with him. It was so cute. I also fell asleep on some chairs for a cat nap. Soon after this we were off on the road again. They had just opened the highway again a couple of hours after this. It was dark by that time.

We went to the funeral on Monday at Goff Mortuary. It was nice. I was able to participate in dressing my Grandmother. Aunt Vicki and Grandma's sister, Aunt LaReta helped as well. I thought it was cool that there were three generations of family there helping Grandma. Her sister, LaReta, really surprised me with how much she looked like and acted like my Grandma Waggoner. I enjoyed visiting with her.
Here are the kids: Linzey Linton, Seth Freer, Nicolas Gonzalez, and of course Landon Fullmer. lol... do you see what Landon is doing to Nicolas??? Little Stink... or like my grandma would have said... little shit! :)

Here is Emily, Andrea, and Kristine. Then Seth, Nicolas, and Landon.

Here we all are!

Landon was playing with Nicolas and ended up sitting on him!

Dad and Ruth Sawyer... and Dad and his sister, Vicki.

Here are photos of us girls with Dad and Ruth.

Here is my sister, April, and her husband of over 10 years, Ernest (Bubby as is known to family).

These are the surviving siblings of grandma with her kids.

This was some photos of Aunt LaReta (grandma's sister) and me and then the sisters. We love you Aunt LaReta!

Landon woke up from his nap and sat with PaPa.

While we were out to eat, Mom was playing with Landon and giving him kisses and he did something funny and they both ended up laughing hysterically. I love these photos of them. :)

Then the trip back home started. Here are some photos of Landon, Linzey and I. Then of Sammy, Samantha, Jennifer, and Nicolas in FerFer's (Jenny's) van.

Of course we couldn't have done it without our trusty driver... Thomas! You are awesome Thomas! I love the moves you had trying to keep yourself awake with the rest of us in tow behind you! Love ya!

I just realized the most bizarre thing. I thought it must be a fluke but then I went back and looked at the pictures of my Grandmas funeral.

No crying. In fact every looks so happy to be there. This is the strangest thing.

Glad you all had a safe trip!

There was crying but we tried to focus on the good things... we all knew she would have wanted it this way. It was more of a celebration and family gathering... I'm just sad that this is what it took for all of us to get down there again. There were no photos taken at the actual funeral and it was probably best... otherwise you would have seen the sad faces there. Thankfully we have the knowledge that life doesn't end at death... and that's comforting.
